M.A.C.E. Educational Program

Open to all students in senior school, the Marine Awareness and Cultural Exchange Program is designed to complement and enhance the students' school curriculum.

Typically a 5 or 7 day stay, the trip involves a mix of lectures and first-hand examination of life on a tropical coral reef. As Hideaway Island is bounded by a marine sanctuary, it's simply a matter of stepping off the shore to see practical examples of the daily lecture topics. Both snorkel trails and guided boat snorkel trips are chosen especially to back up what's being discussed.

At the end of the trip, students receive a Marine Awareness and Cultural Exchange Program Certificate.

The tour is also a rich cultural experience for students - giving them the opportunity to see a modern village and markets in a developing country, learn about the customs, traditions, hunting methods, medicine and traditional foods of the Melanesian people.
